- All drivers must be 18 yrs of age or have a notarized permission slip from parent or legal guardian.
- Any American car or station wagon allowed. NO Chrysler Imperials, Jeeps, Trucks, Carryalls, or Convertibles.
- No Diesel Engines
- Drivers may enter each heat, but must have a different car for each heat
- The same car must be used in the feature heat that you qualified with and have the same driver, NO EXCEPTION.
- All Drivers and Pit crew must sign a release form.
- All cars must be in 1 hour before start time
- All cars must be inspected and ready to derby by starting time. SO BE HERE EARLY.
- Safety belts and helmets are required.
General Regulations
- Drivers must maneuver forward and backward.
- No driver shall deliberately hit an opponent’s car HEAD ON OR IN THE DRIVERS DOOR.
- NO playing possum, you must competitively hit a car every minute or you will be disqualified.
- ABSOLUTELY NO TEAM DRIVING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- All drivers must attend the pit meeting prior to derby.
- Officials have the right to disqualify any car at any time. Official’s decisions are FINAL.
- NO drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be allowed to participate.
- ALL hoods will be opened or removed for inspection (BE PREPARED).
- TWO fires and you are out of that heat. Includes finals as well.
- ALL drivers must wear shirt and pants, Prefer racing type suit Fire suit optional for 2009 but will be mandatory for 2010. NO SHORTS.
- NO pregnant dog RULE.
- All people in the pit area are to stay in designated area and OFF dirt mounds and track while race is on.
Car Preparation
- Slogans, advertising or printing may be place anywhere on the car, Put the driver’s name above the numbers on both sides in large print, Number is recommenced on the roof. NO PROFANITY!!!!
- All glass lights, chrome, trim, etc. MUST BE REMOVED.
- All carpet, headliners, and burnable materials MUST BE REMOVED.
- Bumpers and Fenders may be trimmed but NOTHING ADDED.
- Maximum size of gas tank shall be NO more than 5 gallons, and must be moved to the back seat area and SECURELY FASTENED. NO GI CANS!!!!!!!
- NO electric fuel pumps unless you have an oil pressure shut off switch, or clearly marked switch. PLEASE POINT IT OUT IN TECH LINE.
- Gas Line MUST BE SAFE LINE.
- Driver’s door can be reinforced, 6 inches in front of door and running 6 inches behind the door, reinforcement shall protrude from car no more than ½”. ABSOLUTELY NO GRADER BLADES.
- NO special bumpers, extra weight, trailer hitches, roll bars, special lifts, air lifts, blocks, shackles or any other reinforcement except the driver’s door. ALL helper springs shall be cut. All trunks must be empty of all debris, spare parts, etc.
- Radiators and fans may be removed but not relocated. NOTHING heavier than hail screen in front of radiators.
- The maximum frame height shall be 12 inches in the front and 13 inches in the back, to be measured between the wheels.
- Mirror permitted rear view only.
- There must be a hole in the hood large enough for the use of a fire extinguisher.
- All carburetors must have an air cleaner with filter
- No alcohol or ether systems.
- Transmission coolers are allowed but must be good hydraulic hose.
- No shocks or springs may be welded; the car MUST have bounce in the suspension, NO SOLID SUSPENSION. The only exception is coil springs welded at the base so they don’t fall out. Nothing else.
- BATTERIES: No more than 2 -12 volt passenger or light truck batteries are allowed; all batteries must be fastened down securely and covered for safety. NO HEAVY EQUIPMENT BATTERIES.
- TIRES: Mud and Snow passenger and light truck tires only. NO PADDLE, SOLID or STUDDED TIRES. Double tires are allowed.
- WHEELS: ALL wheels must be stock production type. (5 BOLT MAX) NO BEAD LOCK or SCREWED WHEELS!!!!!!!
- All decking in the rear of station wagons must be removed.
- All cars must have a vertical bar from the roof of the firewall for driver’s protection.
- Horizontal bars behind the drivers seat (door to door) and horizontal bar at cowl area will be allowed for safety.
- BODY MOUNTS: Body mounts may be replaced with a stack of washers or etc. at least 1 inch thick. No added 5th mounts on station wagons, Bolts may be replaced but with the same size bolt. No larger than 5/8”.
- HOODS: Maximum of 8 hood pins or bolts (2 Ready rod one on each side of radiator and 1 inch in diameter maximum). DO NOT WELD HOOD SHUT.
- BUMPERS: May be welded on. No added metal is allowed to mount bumper. No more than 2 chains or straps on front and rear bumpers. Straps may be 2 inches wide and no more than 1/4 inch thick. Straps on the front may not be located in front of the radiator.
- CHAINS are allowed from frame to rear axle or wrapped around. Do not go through the body. Do not weld chain to frame and do not bolt it threw the frame.
- DOORS must be welded shut.
- TRUNKS AND TAILGATES: May be welded 6 inches and leave a 6 inch gap. (2 – 1 inch ready rod allowed).
- FRAME: NO added metal of any kind. NO straps from body to frame. (Wagons or Sedans).
- Body SEAMS: May be welded but ONLY 6 inches and leave a 6 inch gap. Not the frame. The only welding on the frame is the A-Arms forward on the top seam only
- NOTHING BUT DOORS WELDED SOLID. THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED!!!!!!
- #9 WIRE MAY BE USED IN 2 SPOTS. NO MORE THAN 3 WRAPS AND TWISTED IN A CABLE FORM. Yes these two spots may go around the frame. The two spots you pick are the only spots this will be allowed…
- Five 3/8 bolts allowed above wheels.
- OFFICIALS DECISIONS ARE FINAL. NO PROTESTS.
- NO pregnant dog RULE.
- TOP 5 CARS WILL BE REINSPECTED BEFORE PAYOUT.
Again no frame welding except A-Arms forward on top seam. Chains are allowed from rear-end to frame. Do not go threw body with chains. Do not weld chain to frame or do not bolt chain through the frame. Two straps allowed on front of the car but not in front of radiator.
Compact Rules
- Cars and trucks will follow above rules
- No V-8’s
- Cars must have 105” or less wheelbase and Trucks 106” or less wheelbase.
- Can weigh no more than 2600lbs. before stripping.
Frame welding is not accepted. If the rules above don’t say you can weld it, then don’t.
Officiating will be done by the Marshall County Demo Drivers Association.
